rivalarrival,

Personally I like to use the terms "agnostic atheist" and "gnostic atheist" in addition to "agnostic theist" and "gnostic theist". I find these designations extremely useful. And you did a great job explaining them!

In my view we don't need any new terms, sure it helps to be able to put a label on what you feel but the expression 'too many cooks spoil the broth' springs to mind. I think the chances of their being a supernatural force are so finite that I often say I'm an Atheist but I guess technically I'm an Atheistic Agnostic, I think that term works best for me.

The term "Atheist" refers to someone who lacks a positive belief of God. Contrast with "Theist"

The term "Agnostic" refers to someone who lacks knowledge of God's existence. Contrast with "Gnostic"

An Atheist who somehow "knows" that god does not exist would be a Gnostic Atheist. People who actually claim this position are quite rare.

Strictly speaking, an Agnostic Atheist is not one who accepts the possibility that god exists. An agnostic atheist simply has no knowledge regarding God's existence.

An agnostic atheist makes no claims regarding the existence of god, and lacks a positive belief in god.

The term "agtheist" is synonymous with "Weak Atheism" and "Implicit Atheism". These three terms all describe the most common form of Atheism. This form of Atheism is characterized by a strict reliance on logic, reason, and rationality. When confronted with evidence that tends to contradict his position, an atheist of this type will adapt his position to fit the evidence.
