While I do not doubt that America has historically been a nation of Christians, it is and never was a &quot;Christian Nation.&quot; And that&#039;s an important distinction.  </description>

		<description>Zukerman more than adequately countered Cavi&#039;s assumption that he expressed in his first paragraph. There&#039;s nothing like a few facts to counter a lame argument like Cavi&#039;s. However when have the religious ever let facts get in the way of their beliefs? 
 
Cavi&#039;s remaining paragraphs just made me laugh, at him. &quot;I can&#039;t imagine how the first sub-atomic particle came into being so God must have done it&quot; is the lamest excuse for thinking there is. If that is the best argument theists can come up with I can&#039;t imagine any reason to ever become a &#039;believer&#039;. 
 
Additionally, has America really &quot;historically been predominantly a Christian nation under God&quot; ? I thought all the &quot;under god&quot; nonsense was only brought in in the 1950s&quot; What evidence is there that America has historically been a predominately Christian country?
