When I first saw the "banana - atheists' worst nightmare" video, I had never heard of Ray Comfort. For months I thought he was a new comedian with a bright future. When I later dlearned he meant that video seriously, I was floored. The guy has all but ruined parody for me, since I can never again be entirely sure the act is an act.

Whilst I am aware that people peddle things they know to be false I honestly do not think that Comfort is amongst them; he believes as much as those he caters to. I have spoken to people who believe as he does and all Comfort adds is a zeal to spread the word and make a quick buck to boot.

He has announced on Twitter that nearly 20,000 copies have already been pre-sold. As much as I hate to say it, I think that this guy believes every last word that he says, writes, and tweets.

The horrible fact is that he will sell some of these. Mostly to religious parents trying to save their children from learning facts and becoming heathens and some to those amazingly bizarre christian colleges like Fellowship U. This dipshit will actually profit from this. I can't think of anything more morally reprehensible.
I am yet to be convinced that people like Comfort actually believe what they say and sell. As a reasonable man, and I do mean able to reason, I am much more comfortable with the idea that Comfort and his ilk are more likely simply making money by marketing the ridiculous to the irrational. If there is a market for something, even stupidity, someone will exploit it.. The publisher should be bankrupted and Darwin's descendants should sue.

I am afraid to even look at his intro, there is only so much stupid any one person can take and remain sane. Where that idiot of the infamous 'banana was designed' vid fame there is going to be a truckload of stupid.
